And If The G.O.D Be In Me, Then A King I Be!

Lessons from the 64 squares...

(In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, 2020)

"Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity...you take sincerity and put it in a small, closed mind, you have the most dangerous force in the world." MLK Jr.

Had a chess student who was frustrated because he wasn't winning games. As we reviewed strategies and techniques, I saw he was doing the opposite of EVERYTHING he'd been taught. When I asked why, he said he wanted to prove winning could happen by doing it the way everyone said it couldn't be done. I applauded his tenacity and his willingness to go against the grain. I then told him if he didn't change his strategy, get used to taking L's.

Dr. King set out to prove something. Noble and sincere in his actions, he realized later that maybe a change in strategy was in order to secure the win he was looking for. Though his "Dream" was an impassioned one, he evolved. MLK, post-1965, brought a different strategy. And though it may have cost him his life, he did it to save the lives of those he loved. Do yourself a favor and get familiar with THAT King. Your life will never be the same. #NOTG #ChessInRealLife #WarriorMindset #KingThinking #MoreThanADreamer
